Affiliate Email Marketing: Permission, Disclosure and Program Rules

Email is not automatically an approved affiliate channel. The advertiser may restrict email promotion, and consent, sender identification and unsubscribe obligations apply independently.

Confirm both permissions

Verify that recipients consented to the email and that the affiliate program allows its links or claims in email. Keep evidence for both.

Do not upload program or customer data to an email tool without a lawful and contractual basis.

Disclose in the message

Place plain-language disclosure close enough to the recommendation that recipients see it before clicking. A footer legal link is not always sufficient.

Use accurate subject lines and do not imply the advertiser sent or endorsed the message unless authorized.

Protect list and sender health

Authenticate domains, remove invalid contacts, honor unsubscribe promptly and monitor complaints. Purchased lists create legal and deliverability risk.

Track aggregate results and avoid building invasive profiles for a small expected commission.

Frequently asked questions

Can I send affiliate offers to a purchased list?

That is high risk and often unlawful or prohibited. Use permissioned recipients and follow applicable email law and program rules.
